Abstract:
In order to explain differences in agricultural economic performance of 73 regions of the EC, a regression analysis is presented. The dependent variable is the gross value added per labour unit. The explanatory varibles are classified into two different sets: agricultural and non-agricultural. The former give a description of agriculture (crop mix, livestock and horsepower) whereas the latter is related to the general economic development (gross regional product, share of agriculture in active population, population density and importance of part-time farming). The results for 1975 are reported, and comparison with 1970 is also made.
