Abstract:
Initially implemented for projects involving small teams, agile methods have undergone various phases of evolution since the launch of the agile manifesto. The interest for agile project, program and portfolio management has increased since the last decade. However, the adoption and diffusion processes of these innovative methods is still unclear for large companies. Our paper aims to answer the following question: how agile project management methods are spread in a large organization? We adopt a qualitative methodological approach, analyzing the case of a complex organization. Our study focuses on the analysis of an entity that has been created specifically to spread agile methods in the Information Systems Department of a major French banking company. Thus, we raise, through our analysis, that the establishment of an agile center enables the diffusion of agile methods within a community of project managers.
