Abstract: This paper studies the challenges to electric truck (heavy trucks) adoption in urban transport. Starting from the literature on innovation adoption and an implementation case study of the port of Le Havre, we show one should consider electric truck adoption at the scale of a whole territory and rely on the emergence of innovative business ecosystems to build the offer as well as to manage demand requirements and interdependencies. Indeed, if electric trucks are applicable to short-distance and recurring trips, their implementation engages market players to question current operational organization.
