Abstract: Through the prism of luxury, trade, money, arts are mobilized to understand the evolution of society and provide answers that go in the direction of improving all. We will address these issues through the writings of three authors. Ferdinando Galiani in his book Della Moneta examined in terms of price, value and utility the issue of luxury. The second Pietro Verri treated in terms of development of the industry; and the third Jean Baptiste Say has a position that evolves from a conviction of unproductive expenditure to an acceptance of luxury.
