Abstract:
Looking at Alexander Rüstow's political and intellectual career enables us to better understand the key differences between French, Austrian and Anglo-saxon Neoliberalism on the one hand, and German ordoliberalism on the other hand. This rapid overwiew of Rüstow's intellectual career challenges the usual classification of Ordoliberalism as a third way between Socialism and Liberalism. It is more likely a key heterodox economic thinking at the heart of Social Market Economy.
