Abstract:
The paper explores the consequences of the new definition of service proposed by Hill (1999) on industrial classifications, such as ISIC. The first section highlights the main characteristics of the new definition. The second section scrutinises the list of sectors of ISIC Rev. 4 and 3.1 in order to show within which category (goods or services producing) the headings falls. The third section proposes a measurement of the share of each broad category for EU 27 (2008-2011) and France (1995-2011).
