Abstract:
This research proposes a model of attitude toward using new electronic identification (eID) systems. Identification systems in the context of emerging technologies constitute nowadays a key area of research, either focusing on eID systems conception or on the consequences of these systems implementation on individuals and more globally on the society, including states policies and laws. Even if the technoglogies actually exist, lots of individuals remain reluctant to use eID systems for self identification while surfing the Internet, either for commercial and/or administrative purposes.Our paper aims to make a contribution in better understanding the variables impacting attitude toward using eID and the actual reluctance of youngsters to use these systems. Our paper investigates different theories to measure people's adoption of eID services, such as TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), DOI (Diffusion of Innovation), individuals' perceptions of risks and negative consequences, trustworthiness of organization, eID technology and Internet. Using structural equation models, this research provides new insights and proposes numerous future research directions to improve knowledge on eID systems that will become probably largely used in the next coming years.
