Abstract: The increasing use of project management as mode of action, leads us to wonder how the supply chains are constituted, organized and piloted in temporary organisations. To answer to this question, we had a close look on the humanitarian supply chain, which has particular characteristics due to its dynamic and ephemeral aspect, but also by the unpredictability of the demand to be managed. Then we have analysed the theories relating to temporary organizations and dynamic capabilities. We have gauged what role the logistics services providers could play in the humanitarian supply chain. Then we have formulated a set of propositions and we have elaborated a tentative model for this supply chain to be piloted by a 4 PL service provider in a mode "Plug and Play / Unplug".
