Abstract: Few processual studies have shown how a firm can capture and digest relevant information to offer a response to suit the environment. This ability to perceive and to absorb the value of new information is considered to be an important factor in the construction of competitive advantage. By observing the implementation of corporate social activities by a multinational corporation in an emerging country to obtain the right to operate, this article enables to better understand the critical absorptive capacity processes. However, the studied case shows the difficulty to transform potential absorptive capacities into realized absorptive capacities due to the inadequacy of temporalities.
