Abstract:
Risk governance relies more and more on auditing relationships. For the general public as for the academic literature, these relationships are framed a priori by standards and reference guides, to which the auditors and the auditee conform. In this article, we develop an original perspective that focuses on these actors' practices to show that part of their work consists in negotiating what constitutes evidence. Our study investigates the technical dialogue that contributes to nuclear risk governance in France and shows that doubt is a component of risk governance.
