Abstract:
The present study is interested in the practical use of HRM tools by co-operatives. More specifically, the authors analyse the proceedings of performance appraisal interviews within a French worker co-operative. They show the concrete practices by which co-operators succeed in diverting, reappropriating and reversing a tool that is typically individualising and hierarchical so as to put it at the service of the collectivist and democratic culture of their organisation.
