Abstract The emergence of China, and especia l ly the accelerated internationalization of Chinese companies in recent years, are quite striking and seem to bring about new cultural challenges. This aim of this article is to explain the mechanisms of guanxi-or Chinese social networks-that come into play in the context of the internationalization of Chinese enterprises in France. The interest of this study is to present a single qualitative case with multi-level guanxi relations, by analyzing the operation of the Association for Europe-China Cooperation (AECC), an agency providing assistance
