Abstract: This paper deals with the implementation of a gender equality policy. Based on a case study conducted in a large French company and using the appropriative perspective of management tools, it aims to identify the factors structuring the appropriation of this policy. Beyond the degree of professionalization of the actors, several elements structure the involvement of the actors and therefore the policy implementation: representations of gender equality, actors' games, articulation between HR processes and gender equality measures, and budgetary constraints. This calls on us to revisit the appropriate perspective of management tools and to enrich it with economic, financial and procedural dimensions.
