Abstract: With the growing size of agricultural cooperatives, staying close to members and their ability to participate in decision-making are frequently called into question. Based on a novel action-research study that involved young farmers and students, the authors show that the new generation sees digital technologies as a means of facilitating exchanges and fostering member participation in decision-making. A range of tools are examined and their relevance to members is considered. By investigating the member/cooperative relationship, this work highlights the interest of young farmers in finding ways of developing exchanges between members with shared concerns and practices.
