Abstract: Making use of diverse techniques (document analysis, interviews and lexicometry), the article studies the disputed meanings of "démocratie sociale" (social democracy). Thereby, we shed light on the ideological struggles within the field of industrial relations, to which labour and employer organisations and representatives of the state take part, as well as scholars and journalists.
