Abstract: The irreversibility of New Public Management in the health system seems to be established and to have introduced a path dependency. In this article, we suggest that health cooperatives create an alternative pathway. The exploratory case of the cooperative Le Calme shows the existence of human relationships remodeled compared to those prevailing in NPM. This case also shows the constraints that health cooperatives face in creating an alternative path.
