Abstract:
Size asymmetry of between partners has ambiguous effects on the choice of governance mechanisms (Control-Trust), and on the outcomes of the strategic alliances (Performance). Our paper aims to propose an integrator framework through five research propositions making the link between the control and the trust on a one hand, the instability and the performance on the other hand, while underlining the moderating role of size asymmetry. Then, two important results are obtained from our theoretical discussion: the integration of performance as a dependent variable on a differentiated and dynamic instability, and the dominant positive effects of the informal mechanisms of control on the outcomes of the strategic alliances. Methodological recommendations have been made in order to test the proposed model.
