Abstract:
This research focuses on one of the leading companies amongst the French poll private institutes providing its clients with political, advertising and marketing studies. Based on a sequence of participating observations realized between 1989 and 1991, it attempts to describe the work of the market research specialists and their intermediate managers and stress the gap these intellectual workers are confronted with on a daily basis, i.e. producing recognized studies which attest the reliability of the company on one hand, managing, on the other hand, a flow of errors appearing in these studies.
