Abstract: This paper aims to develop a method for identifying a production chain. This type of method attempts to identify a pool of industries that have strong economic flows between them. In this study, we show the potential of input-output models for this type of analysis. Two types of contribution are made. First, we improve the way of selecting industries that integrate into a production chain. Then we improve the method of calculating the economic distance between industries belonging to the same production chain. These improvements are applied to an analysis of the wood production chain in France.
