Abstract:
In Anti-Proudhonian Ideas on Love, Woman, and Marriage (1858), Juliette Adam deconstructs Proudhon's argument about the physical, intellectual, and moral inferiority of women. The social state that she promotes assumes a gender mix that can not be envisaged without a radical reform of marriage and family. In particular, she defends free union and, in some ways, her ideas refer to the philosophies of care supported by certain contemporary feminist currents.
