Abstract: Anchored in a socio-anthropological approach, this article aims to provide an operational definition of the concept of lifestyle. Indeed, on account of the plurality of definitions and uses of the latter in the literature, an exploration of its analytical value for social sciences is much needed. Hence, we investigate its different dimensions and tackle the mechanisms of individual and collective bargaining between social structure and dispositions. To do so, we combine sociological and anthropological theories discussing the dimensions of the concept of lifestyle and we provide a brief empirical example of drug consumption patterns in Madrid. In conclusion, we offer a revised definition of the concept.
