Abstract:
The success of economics-based approaches, especially human capital theory, in HRM is paradoxical. By infusing amidst companies management tools grounded on an utilitarian mindset, the human capital approach has turned workers in maximizing economic agents at the expense of collective commitment. So as to get away from this stalemate, it is essential to reestablish the bond across companies and human capital owners - wage earners-. Workers not only require more fairness between endeavor and retribution but also a right to have their say similar to the one held by financial capital owners.
