Abstract: This article presents a new framework of the analysis of competition dynamics: business ecosystems. Business ecosystems are the regrouping of businesses that come from different industries that form a strategic community around a leader. They are formed on the basis of a need for common resources. How Microsoft is facing the threat from Linux is discussed.
