Abstract:
Abstract: This case study is based on a fraction of the SFM project data (PIA2 / ADEME project in partnership with the Le Havre seaport) aimed at deploying intermodal rail-road transportation between the port of Le Havre and the Paris region. The implementation of such a mode of transport requires a comprehensive understanding of the loading process in the port of Le Havre, the transfer of goods on the railways, unloading on the logistics platform and the urban post-shipment. The case thus allows learners to discover the constraints of intermodal transportation and to position themselves from the beginning of the project on the choice of platform location to build an economically competitive transport offer compared to road transport. All of the data in this study is real and is obtained through numerous meetings with railway experts, port agents, warehousers and logistics service providers. Educational goals : - The understanding of the processes of intermodal rail-road transportation - The construction of a business model to determine the cost per container with the rail-road intermodal transport between Le Havre and Paris. - The location of an intermodal platform, its challenges and interactions with the project. - The success conditions of an intermodal transportation. - The comparison of rail transport with that of road, its advantages and its inconveniences.
