Abstract: In this paper, we have chosen to study the sector of dialysis in France. Several scholars have already analyzed this sector from a cost perspective (Benin et al., 2007; Just et al., 2008; Cleemput & De Laet, 2013). This topic is not our main subject of interest here. The purpose of this preliminary research is to describe the evolution of this ecosystem facing on the one hand technological and strategic challenges and regulatory constraints (the dialysis activity is tightly regulated in France) on the other and to see how the digital transformation and uberization (through platforms operated by new entrants) could spread within the sector. Our research question is to what extent these changes related in particular to the role of data and new digital uses can be identified and will impact the sector of dialysis in France? To address this issue, we have adopted a case study approach and then we will draw out general findings from two case studies in the last part of this paper.
