Abstract:
The article aims to present a brief survey of the debates on the theory of goods and their governance. In the first part, we return to the opposition between public and private goods and its contemporary developments in the digital economy. The second part deals with commons and the search for a form of governance that is neither hierarchical nor market-based. We show that in the context of the enlargement of the theory of common goods beyond natural resources to commons in the knowledge-based economy, the extension of property rights is a threat for the commons.
