Abstract: This research aims at exploring IoT devices appropriation process from a consumer's perspective. Using qualitative interviews on smart watches consumers, we identify four various stages of the appropriation process: symbolic appropriation, exploration, use construction and stabilization. Through the DIVA framework, our results show that the appropriation process is a dynamic phenomenon relying on both specific interactions and value type, linked to IoT devices characteristics. This research gives a better understanding of IoT devices consumers' appropriation process, enabling the identification for companies of variables for actions to improve it.
