Abstract: The article presents a literature review of the concept of heterarchy to better understand its transdisciplinary trajectory and its potential contribution to Information Systems Governance (ISG). The first part of the article summarizes some important definitions of ISG, the dimensions of analysis, normative and the main forms of IT governance frameworks. In a second part, we present the emergence of the concept of heterarchy in different disciplines. We will indicate the application and situations mechanisms underlying heterarchical phenomena (problems or comments, related concepts). In a third part, we will discuss the forms in heterarchical organizations as discussed in management. Finally, in the fourth part, we will endeavor to highlight the importance of this concept for the ISG, presenting some illustrative situations in the field of Information Systems, to conclude our research prospects.
