Abstract:
In this article we have chosen an exploratory position to analyze the investment decisions in smart grids projects. We show that a real options approach may offer new insights for the decision problem. Investments in the deployment of smart grid technologies are hampered by technological, economic and socio-political uncertainties. These uncertain-ties can have a significant impact on investment decisions. The analysis of the strategic responses to these various uncertainties makes it possible to determine and characterize the optimal choice while taking into account the current market conditions and the arrival of information over time.
