Abstract: Evolving on the movement of crowdsourcing, the Jam builds on the innovative potential of players gathered on an electronic and/or a physical platform. The first Global Service Jam (GSJ), which met in 2011 aims to design and prototype innovative services. Inspired by the instrumental Jam, the GSJ is as an opportunity for each person or company to create and test an innovative service, in an environment of friendly competition. The concept includes a time constraint and need to work to unite the forces involved to get the best result. Our research aims to put into perspective the main strengths but also weaknesses of this particular form of open innovation.
