Abstract:
The only rural areas in the Pays-de-la-Loire that are predominantly industrial (2), the Mauges are associated, with the Vendée Bocage, with a particular type of industrialization in rural areas to which we give the name of "Choletais nebula" (3 ). Eram, Fleury-Michon, Bénéteau, Graveleau, Catimini, Bodet ... It is here, in this "fertile crescent" and very agricultural, without much respect for current administrative borders, that some of the big names of regional industry. Paradox? Rather the success of a diffuse and original industrial development model compared to the industrial and urban concentration which marked the same era.
