Abstract: Peter Fireman is well known to Marx's scholars because he proposed a solution to the problem of transforming labor values into production prices which Engels acknowledged to be very close to that of Marx himself. This contribution to the Marxian economics has remained isolated in a particularly active life. He had emigrated to the United States to a Jewish commune, then returned to Europe, studied chemistry in Switzerland, taught chemistry in the United States, took patents, created companies, and was a patron of American progressives. He published books on psychology and philosophy. In his last book devoted to Platon, he compared Marx's and Platon's ideas of justice
