Abstract:
The features of virtual collaborative contexts have to be clearly established and turned into a reference architecture framework to achieve efficient design. Definitions pertaining to the concept of virtual collaboration are given in this paper on the basis of substantial results elaborated by an experts group of the E U Directorate General Information Society and Media, and delivered at a workshop held in October 2006. The concept of Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) agent is introduced and its interpreter block proves to be the relevant corner stone of such a reference architecture framework. It is a mindset providing potential for further investigations to develop conversational software such as voice-driven handling of inquiries or visualizing the behavioural attitudes of cyberclients (avatars) when interacting with a portal-based supply chain scheme.
