Abstract:
The arms industry is characterized by the existence of military-industrial complexes, the reduced importance of nuclear strategies with the end of the Cold War and the regular application of oblique strategies to avoid armed conflict. There is a weakening of the role of the state in the conversion of arms industries, a process of concentration and internationalization of firms, research and development dominated by American firms, miscalculations of arms exports, the development of compensation and the beginning of a serious process of cooperation. However, the question that arises is whether the globalisation of the arms industries is not simply leading to their Americanisation.
