Abstract: Eric Besson has written a report on the competitiveness of French football and sport. Sport is a flourishing economic sector, full of excesses, capable of proposing new rules of the game to the market economy, emphasising competition, heritage and internationalisation at the same time. Sport is becoming a political issue of interest to governments, with a threefold aim: improving their image, reducing potential societal and social tensions and opening up the fundamental spirit of competition in all sectors of the economy.
