Abstract:
50 French and 41 foreign experts (researchers, political scientists, philosophers or economists) answered a questionnaire on armaments, disarmament, war and peace. Questions on armament as a factor of war or security, the strategic importance of nuclear armament, disarmament as a factor of peace, international agreements or verification methods were asked. There is a "French school" based on the interest of nuclear deterrence, on strong national defence and on a kind of mistrust of disarmament, conceptions that are not found, or not with the same intensity, among foreign experts.
