Abstract:
The economic importance of the SDI project (Strategic Defense Initiative) is the subject of much debate, in its capacity to revive the arms race and for its budgetary cost. The long-term effects are controversial concerning the industrial and scientific spin-offs, military-economic cooperation with US allies and the possible response of the Warsaw Pact.
