Abstract:
In socio-economic and political evolutions since the 1980s, local authorities tested some private management tools within their organization. Aware of the managerial challenge, they also change the concept of recruitment, training and management of their public managers following two main axes : the commitment towards local public interest and practice learning by experiences. Our empirical study on 1125 public local managers (in collaboration with the Association of Public Local Managers) shows that this changing has given positive effects.
