Abstract: This research deals with smart objects and IoT with an angle centered on the user. The more or less active role of the user in the orchestration of the environment and, by extension, the new uses that will ensue must be an integral part of the thinking about smart environments, be it a smart home or a smart city. Through eight focus groups, this research explores the perceptions and expectations of users towards smart objects in the future smart home and raises questions about the design of interfaces for smart objects The results of this exploratory study present expectations in terms of comfort and practicality, and underline the necessity of orchestrating the functions of these objects to contribute to the well-being in the home.
