Abstract:
Since 2014, digital platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats have proposed to revolutionize food delivery and, more precisely, the way it is carried out by couriers. Indeed, instead of salaried employees, these platforms recruit thousands of self-employed workers as subcontractors. They promise them flexibility and freedom. This article questions these promises by comparing this subcontracting relationship with a traditional form of subcontracting that has existed for years in the parcel delivery sector.
