Abstract: Urban agriculture is once again becoming into the cities especially during economic and health crisis. Therefore, this reterritorialization of food production is born with the emergence of new kind of market and productive organizations. Our study consists in identifying, and understanding business models (BM) ensuring a viability to these market and productive organizations of urban agriculture (MPOUA). Social and environmental dimensions are not the focus of this study. Indeed, few data exist due to the lack of robust and shared indicators. Thus, the economic dimension of the study is privileged, essential for the sustainability of MPOUA. Moreover, all the actors including public and private funders need economic information to choose the best MPOUA. Our survey of twenty-five OMPAU shows on the one hand their originality and diversity in terms of activities. In order to be sustainable and profitable, OMPAU invents many innovative strategies for agriculture sector producing a multitude of business models. On the other hand, we show the existence of keys to success such as the need to partner with local authorities, financiers or education, to surround oneself with appropriate technical skills, to carry out activities offering sustainable values. The distribution networks are diverse but they concern public or private tenders.
