Abstract:
The town of Fada N'Gourma in the eastern region of Burkina Faso covers an area of 350 km². It was home to a population of approximately 66,173 inhabitants in 2019 (INSD-Est, 1996-2006: 222; Projection DAHANI. I, 2020). This population as a whole and those of its attached villages frequent the central market of this city for their needs. This market being the main one in the city, it attracts and concentrates economic activities. This has created the spatial spread of market activities, mainly linked to the lack of forecast of possibilities for expansion during the project to build this equipment. The over-density of facilities in this central market is the cause of the merchant tentacles in the area of this central market. The present investigation, which was essentially based on field research by collecting primary data. It aims to analyze the dynamics of the spatial occupation of commercial activities in the central market of Fada N'Gourma. Thus, the examination of spatial occupations in relation to market activities reveals that there is an anarchic and informal sprawl of market activities and that the central market is the main place of commerce in the city, which generates linked market tentacles. the narrowness of the furnished space.
