Abstract: Economic globalisation has often been seen as progress for all of humanity. Today, there is no shortage of criticism regarding the dominant materialism, the excessive development of inequalities, the questioning of democratic values, the loss of solidarity and the absence of public control of the information available to all. Man is thus anaemic, affected by the standardisation of cultures, the neglect of necessary macroeconomic coordination, the persistence of poverty and underdevelopment.

Keywords: Globalisation; inequalities; democracy; solidarities; information economy; poverty; underdevelopment; uniformity of cultures; power of multinational firms; inégalités; démocratie; solidarités; économie de l’information; pauvreté; sous-développement; uniformisation des cultures; puissance des firmes multinationales (search for similar items in EconPapers)
