Abstract: Over the past decade, health professionals have witnessed a profound transformation in the demands and needs of healthcare system users, who demand a greater role in the decisions concerning them, increased transparency and better guarantees with respect to the quality and safety of the care they receive. Hospital stakeholders must adapt their representations and behaviour to a new context characterized by economic constraint, the evolution of medical techniques and technologies, the multiplication of social demands and an increasingly narrow normative framework. Using the model of the hierarchized identity resource as our basis, the authors discuss the impact of these multiple changes, which are accelerated by hospital accreditations and given concrete form in the implementation of quality projects.
