Abstract:
This longitudinal case study illustrates the evolution of a Lean system within the major auto- motive company, the PSA Group. It retraces the Lean emergence from its experimentation in the 1960s until its adoption through the PSA Excellence System. The objective of this article is to illustrate the historical evolution of Lean within the PSA Group according to a process-based approach. The study shows that the adoption process within the organisation is the result of a collective, non-linear, cumulative learning process that depends on internal and external factors.
