Abstract: Encouraging elderly people with reduced independence to age at home leads to the development of new care organizations. This article focuses on an innovative solution: a nursing home "beyond the walls." This solution is based on a nursing home and provides enhanced support by offering a range of services within the institution or at home. It raises many questions, especially about the suitability of the services provided in response to the needs expressed by the elderly. The data collected and the interviews carried out as part of this experiment enable us to study the beneficiaries' uses of services, along with their feelings about the services. While beneficiaries and their caregivers are generally satisfied with the way in which the support can be personalized, organizational constraints do however limit its scope. In addition, the use of the various services offered is characterized by significant variations: some services are rarely or never used, while others are regularly used by a significant proportion of beneficiaries. These results are fueling the debate about the limits of the de-institutionalization process targeted by these experiments.
