Abstract: This contribution reports the representations of the members of a section of officer cadets of the Ecole Militaire Interarmes (ÉMIA) aimed at qualifying the main characteristics of the activity deployed by a leader with his section (group of soldiers). The challenge of taking on and holding the position of leader is, during dangerous operations, to regulate the risk incurred and the vulnerability of the men in these situations. The synthesis of the representations resulting from the statements collected shows a command activity that simultaneously deals with the relationship with each member of the group and the collective activity. It underlines the value of continuing research on learning potential in high-intensity training situations.
