Abstract: The legal framework for agricultural trade is marked by a complex dialectic that opposes commercial and non-commercial considerations, such as food security and environment. Although the reform of the WTO Agreement on Agriculture is still not complete, the last decades reveal a substantial normative production around the concept of food security which can bring changes to the WTO and contribute to a transition to sustainable food systems.
