Abstract: "Logistics sprawl" is the tendency of warehousing development to move away from inner urban areas toward more suburban and exurban areas. A series of three special sessions on logistics sprawl took place during the 2016 World Conference on Transport Research, organized in Shanghai, China. Well attended, these sessions provided interesting and diverse case studies on logistics sprawl, all with their own specificities but using methodologies that make comparisons possible between them. We have selected seven of these case studies based on their quality, the need for diversity (in geographical areas and city sizes), as well as the meaningfulness of having them together. Three of these studies (in the US and Canada) look at several cities within the country (up to 48 in the US case), while the other four focus on one specific city: Los Angeles, USA, Brussels, Belgium, Berlin, Germany, and Gothenburg, Sweden.
