Abstract: Through a unique case study, the objective of this article is to understand how the actors of an ecosystem structure themselves around a "landscape of practices" to manage a innovation common. As part of a low-carbon district project in the city of La Rochelle, this case study analyzes the management of an inter-organizational approach to the energy and sustainable transition. The structuring of the ecosystem studied is approached through the literature on "communities of practice" and "proximities". The empirical investigation approach allows us to reveal the functioning of communities of practice for the management of an "intangible common". The use of proximities constitutes a methodological contribution for the qualification of communities of practice and the restitution of the capital of proximities of innovation ecosystems.
